Overview

The NSW2020-24T1GT1GC-POE-IN is an unmanaged 19-inch rack-mount Fast Ethernet PoE switch with 24 × 100Mbps RJ45 PoE ports (priority ports 1-8) plus a 1000Mbps RJ45 uplink (G2) and a 1000Mbps Combo RJ45/SFP uplink (G1/SFP1), built for larger machine-room and wiring-closet camera aggregation projects. It delivers a 370 W total PoE budget (30 W max per port, IEEE 802.3af/at, Mode B pinout) over an 8.8 Gbps switching fabric with 6.55 Mpps forwarding, a 4M bit packet buffer and a 16K MAC address table, cooled by a single internal fan and powered from a built-in AC 100–240V supply (390 W max). The all-metal 440×250×44 mm 1U chassis (2.93 kg) runs from 0°C to 45°C and switches between Default (Normal), VLAN (Secure, downlink-to-uplink only, with PD keepalive to reboot unresponsive PoE cameras) and EXTEND (250 m surveillance reach) via a front-panel slide switch — no management software required, NDAA compliant.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

24-Port PoE Bank Aggregates a Full 24-Channel NVR From One 1U Switch24 individually-fed PoE ports mean a single 1U switch can power and cable an entire 24-channel NVR deployment — useful for parking structures, retail chains or warehouse perimeters where splitting cabling across two or three smaller switches would eat rack space and add failure points.
370 W Budget Covers the Realistic Camera Mix Across All 24 PortsAt the mix most sites actually run — a handful of PTZ or IR bullet cameras near 30 W alongside standard fixed cameras under 10 W — the 370 W budget comfortably services all 24 ports; for sites planning every port near the 30 W ceiling, size the load around the 8 priority ports instead (see Not a Good Fit below).
Priority Ports 1-8 Keep Critical Feeds Alive as the Camera Bank GrowsAs more cameras compete for the 370 W pool across 24 ports, ports 1-8 keep PoE power priority — route entrance, loading-dock or server-room cameras there so they are the last to lose power if aggregate demand climbs toward the ceiling.
VLAN Secure Mode with PD Keepalive Scales to Unattended Multi-Building SitesFlip the front-panel switch to VLAN (Secure) so all 24 downlink ports can reach only the uplink, and let PD keepalive auto-reboot any of the larger camera count that stops responding — cutting truck rolls as both the number of remote sites and cameras per site grow.
EXTEND Mode Still Reaches a 250 m Perimeter Camera From a High-Density RackThe same front-panel switch flips to EXTEND (surveillance mode) for up to 250 m of reach on a single port, so one high-port-count switch can anchor both a dense indoor camera bank and a distant gate or fence-line camera without a second small switch nearby.
Combo Uplink Bridges to a Fiber Core Switch Across a Larger CampusThe G1/SFP1 Combo port takes either an RJ45 copper run or an SFP fiber transceiver, so a high-port-count switch like this one can still uplink over fiber to a campus core switch spanning multiple buildings, while the dedicated G2 RJ45 port stays free for a local NVR — and the whole 24-port bank still fits a single 1U slot at 440×250×44 mm (2.93 kg).
Not a good fit if:
  • Downlink ports are Fast Ethernet only (10/100Mbps, no Gigabit) across all 24 ports — for 4K or multi-stream cameras that need gigabit throughput per port, choose a Gigabit PoE switch; only the two uplinks (G2, G1/SFP1) run at 1000Mbps.
  • Unmanaged — no Web/CLI/SNMP access or per-port VLAN tagging, even with 24 ports to control; the front-panel switch offers only Default/VLAN/EXTEND positions, not granular configuration; choose a managed switch if you need remote monitoring or individual port control across a large camera bank.
  • 370 W total budget can't power all 24 ports at 30 W simultaneously (24×30 W = 720 W ≫ 370 W) — plan camera load around the 8 priority ports, and note this model is 802.3af/at only, so 802.3bt high-power PTZ domes (60–90 W) need a bt-capable switch or injector.
