Overview

The NSW2020-24T2GC-POE-IN is an unmanaged 19-inch rack-mount Fast Ethernet PoE switch with 24 × 100Mbps RJ45 PoE ports (priority ports 1-8) plus two independent 1000Mbps Combo RJ45/SFP uplinks (G1/SFP1, G2/SFP2), each able to switch on its own between copper and fiber for dual-link redundancy or aggregation. It delivers a 370 W total PoE budget (30 W max per port, IEEE 802.3af/at, Mode A and Mode B pinout) over an 8.8 Gbps switching fabric with 6.55 Mpps forwarding, a 4M bit packet buffer and a 16K MAC address table, cooled by a single internal fan and powered from a built-in AC 100–240V supply (390 W max). The all-metal 440×245×44 mm 1U chassis (2.90 kg) runs from 0°C to 45°C and switches between Default (Normal), VLAN (Secure, downlink-to-uplink only, with PD keepalive to reboot unresponsive PoE cameras) and EXTEND (250 m surveillance reach) via a front-panel slide switch — no management software required, NDAA compliant.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

Two Independent Combo Uplinks for Dual-Link Redundancy or AggregationG1/SFP1 and G2/SFP2 each switch independently between RJ45 copper and SFP fiber, so you can run one link to a primary core switch and a second as a backup path — or point both toward the same core for extra uplink throughput — without adding a second switch or a media converter.
24-Port PoE Bank Still Fits a Full 24-Channel NVR in One 1U Switch24 individually-fed 100Mbps PoE ports mean a single 1U switch can power and cable an entire 24-camera deployment — useful for parking structures, retail chains or warehouse perimeters where a second switch would eat rack space and add another point of failure.
A 370 W Pool Comfortably Feeds a Realistic 24-Camera DeploymentMost installations mix a few 25–30 W PTZ or IR bullet cameras with a larger group of sub-10 W fixed cameras — under that realistic load, 370 W across 24 ports rarely gets tight; only plan around the 8 priority ports if every port might approach the 30 W ceiling at once (see Not a Good Fit below).
Priority Ports 1-8 Keep Your Most Important Cameras Powered FirstWhen aggregate PoE demand climbs toward the 370 W ceiling across 24 competing ports, ports 1-8 are served first — wire entrances, loading docks or server-room cameras there so those feeds are the last to lose power under load.
VLAN Secure Mode with PD Keepalive Fits Unattended Multi-Site RolloutsSlide the front-panel switch to VLAN (Secure) and all 24 downlink ports can reach only the uplinks; PD keepalive then auto-reboots any camera that stops sending data, cutting truck rolls as the number of remote sites and cameras per site both grow.
EXTEND Mode Still Reaches a 250 m Perimeter Camera Alongside the Dense BankThe same slide switch flips to EXTEND (surveillance mode) for up to 250 m of reach on a single port, so this 24-port switch can anchor a dense indoor camera bank and a distant gate or fence-line camera at the same time, all from one 440×245×44 mm 1U chassis (2.90 kg).
Not a good fit if:
  • All 24 downlink ports are Fast Ethernet only (10/100Mbps, no Gigabit) — for 4K or multi-stream cameras that need gigabit throughput per port, choose a Gigabit PoE switch; only the two Combo uplinks (G1/SFP1, G2/SFP2) run at 1000Mbps.
  • Unmanaged — no Web/CLI/SNMP access or per-port VLAN tagging; the front-panel switch offers only Default/VLAN/EXTEND positions, not granular configuration. Choose a managed switch if you need remote monitoring or individual port control across a large camera bank.
  • 370 W total budget can't power all 24 ports at 30 W simultaneously (24×30 W = 720 W ≫ 370 W) — plan camera load around the 8 priority ports; this model is 802.3af/at only (Mode A/B), so 802.3bt high-power PTZ domes (60–90 W) need a bt-capable switch or injector.
