Overview

The NSW2020-16T1GT1GC-POE-IN is an unmanaged 19-inch rack-mount Fast Ethernet PoE switch with 16 × 100Mbps RJ45 PoE ports (priority ports 1-8) plus a 1000Mbps RJ45 uplink (G2) and a 1000Mbps Combo RJ45/SFP uplink (G1/SFP1), built for machine-room and wiring-closet camera aggregation. It delivers a 250 W total PoE budget (30 W max per port, IEEE 802.3af/at, Mode B pinout) over a 7.2 Gbps switching fabric with 5.36 Mpps forwarding, a 4M bit packet buffer and a 16K MAC address table, cooled by a single internal fan and powered from a built-in AC 100–240V supply (265 W max). The all-metal 440×195×44 mm 1U chassis (2.12 kg) runs from 0°C to 45°C and switches between Default (Normal), VLAN (Secure, downlink-to-uplink only, with PD keepalive to reboot unresponsive PoE cameras) and EXTEND (250 m surveillance reach) via a front-panel slide switch — no management software required, NDAA compliant.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

16-Port PoE Aggregation for a Full NVR Channel Bank16 PoE-enabled ports feed a full 16-channel NVR from a single 1U switch — power and connect an entire camera bank without splitting cabling across multiple small switches in the rack.
Priority Ports 1-8 Protect Half the Camera Bank Under LoadPorts 1-8 carry PoE power priority, so entrance, server-room or other critical cameras on those ports keep drawing power first if total demand approaches the 250 W budget across all 16 ports.
VLAN Secure Mode with PD Keepalive for Unattended Equipment RoomsFlip the front-panel switch to VLAN (Secure) mode so downlink ports can only reach the uplink — and let PD keepalive auto-reboot any camera that stops responding, cutting truck rolls to remote server rooms and wiring closets.
EXTEND Mode Reaches a 250 m Perimeter Camera From the Same RackFlip the same front-panel switch to EXTEND (surveillance mode) and push power plus data up to 250 m for a single gate, fence-line or driveway camera — no need for a separate mini switch or repeater beside the main rack.
Combo Uplink Bridges to a Fiber Core Switch Across BuildingsThe G1/SFP1 Combo port takes either an RJ45 copper run or an SFP fiber transceiver, so this rack switch can uplink over fiber to a core switch in another building while the dedicated G2 RJ45 port stays free for a local NVR or PC.
1U 19″ Chassis Fits Cleanly Beside NVRs in a Server CabinetAt 440×195×44 mm and 2.12 kg with standard 19-inch rack ears, the all-metal chassis mounts directly above or below an NVR in a server cabinet or wiring closet, drawing power from the built-in AC 100–240V supply — no external power brick to route.
Not a good fit if:
  • Downlink ports are Fast Ethernet only (10/100Mbps, no Gigabit) — for 4K or multi-stream cameras that need gigabit throughput per port, choose a Gigabit PoE switch; only the two uplinks (G2, G1/SFP1) run at 1000Mbps.
  • Unmanaged — no Web/CLI/SNMP access or per-port VLAN tagging; the front-panel switch offers only Default/VLAN/EXTEND positions, not granular configuration; choose a managed switch if you need remote monitoring or individual port control.
  • 250 W total budget can't power all 16 ports at 30 W simultaneously (16×30 W = 480 W ≫ 250 W) — plan camera load around the 8 priority ports, and note this model is 802.3af/at only, so 802.3bt high-power PTZ domes (60–90 W) need a bt-capable switch or injector.
