Design Notes & Honest Limits
Read this before you order:
- Behavior AI needs light, angle and tuning. Expect false alarms in the first weeks; each scene (dock, aisle, sorting line) gets its own zones and thresholds — budget a tuning period, not a miracle.
- Thermal fire watch is early warning, not a certified fire-suppression system — keep your code-required alarms and sprinklers; this buys you the hours before they trigger.
- Video traceability deters and proves parcel theft — it cannot physically stop it. Pair it with process controls (two-person handover, sealed totes) for the high-value zone.
- Cold-chain warehouses need cold-rated hardware: check each camera's operating range before ordering and heat the housings below it — standard indoor domes stop at -10 °C or so.
- Multi-site HQ management needs bandwidth planning: live walls pull streams from every park — size the WAN links (or use sub-stream viewing) before promising headquarters a 100-camera wall.
FAQ
How many cameras does a large warehouse need?
Zoned rule of thumb: perimeter one per 50–80 m of fence, gates 2–4 each, one 360° fisheye per ~400–600 m² of open floor, one dome per rack aisle, dedicated cameras per dock door and sorting line. A 10,000 m² single-floor warehouse typically lands between 40 and 80 cameras. Send your floor plan — the zoned count is free.
Can it stop parcel theft and swapping?
Honest answer: it deters and proves, it cannot physically block a hand. Every step from unloading to dispatch is on video with second-level search — most internal theft stops when staff know the path is traceable, and claims get settled with footage instead of arguments. For high-value goods add process controls on top.
Can it detect a speeding forklift?
Yes — the video AI recognizes forklifts specifically and raises overspeed alarms against a configurable threshold (the official material uses 30 km/h as the example). It also flags illegal parking and blocked aisles, and checks drivers for helmet, reflective vest and seat belt.
Does it work in cold-chain freezer warehouses?
Yes, with the right hardware: choose cameras whose operating range covers your room temperature, use heated housings below it, and watch for lens fogging at door transitions. Tell us your room temperatures and we select cold-rated models line by line.
Can several warehouses be managed from one headquarters?
