How far does the night vision of the IPC-B234-AF40-ECO reach?

Its single 850 nm smart IR illuminator reaches 30 m in total darkness with black-and-white footage. Thanks to the 4MP sensor, DORI figures for the 4.0 mm lens are strong: detect a person at 90 m, observe at 36 m, recognize at 18 m and identify at 9 m.

Does it show color at night?

This is an IR-only model: in darkness the IR-cut filter switches to black and white, and the 850 nm light stays invisible so the camera records discreetly. With ambient light it holds color down to 0.01 lux through the F2.0 lens. Need color at night? Choose the dual-light version.

How is it powered and can it stay outdoors?

PoE delivers power and video over one network cable, cutting cabling cost along fences and driveways. The IP67 housing withstands dust and heavy rain, the bracket adjusts 360° pan and 90° tilt, and the model is NDAA compliant for tenders that require it.

Can it pick up audio and detect people?

Yes. The built-in microphone records G.711U/G.711A audio with the video, and audio detection raises an event on loud noise. Human body detection 2.0 filters people from swaying vegetation and animals, so alerts are more reliable than with basic motion detection alone.

What resolution does it record and how much bandwidth does it use?

Main stream records 4MP (2560×1440) at up to 25 fps, or 3MP/1080p at 30 fps if you prefer smoother motion. Encoding is Ultra 265, H.265 or H.264 with dual streams, and bit rate adjusts from 128 to 6144 Kbps to balance quality against bandwidth and storage.
