What resolution and frame rate does the IPC2125LB-SF28(40)-A deliver?

The main stream tops out at 5 MP (2592×1944) at 20 fps; you can also run 4 MP or 3 MP at 20 fps, or drop to 1080p for 30 fps. Compression covers Ultra 265, H.265, H.264 and MJPEG with bit rate from 128 Kbps to 6144 Kbps.

How far can it see in total darkness?

Smart IR at 850 nm illuminates up to 30 m (98.4 ft) and works down to 0 lux — full darkness. The IR is invisible, so the camera does not draw attention at night, and LED power adapts automatically so subjects close to the lens keep detail.

Can I add it to a third-party NVR I already own?

Yes. ONVIF Profile S and Profile T support plus API and SDK make it usable with most third-party NVRs and VMS platforms, and the protocol stack includes RTSP, RTMP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP and SNMP. Dual streams let the recorder and mobile clients pull different qualities.

2.8 mm or 4.0 mm — which version should I buy?

The 2.8 mm (SF28) covers 97° horizontally, detecting people to 63 m and identifying at 6.3 m — best for entrances and small courtyards. The 4.0 mm (SF40) narrows to 79° but detects to 90 m and identifies at 9 m — best along walls, lanes and parking rows.

Is it built for outdoor use and restricted tenders?

Yes on both counts. The housing is IP67 rated against dust and rain, powered over PoE with a single cable, and the model is NDAA compliant. Hardening includes HTTPS encryption, strong passwords, RTSP authentication, IP filtering and exportable operation logs — with motion and tampering alarms built in.
