Smart IR reaches up to 30 m for night vision, MicroSD edge storage holds up to 512 GB, and it powers over a single PoE cable or DC 12V, with a −30 °C to 60 °C working range. It is offered with two fixed lenses: 2.8 mm (ADF28K, wider view) or 4.0 mm (ADF40K, longer reach).

What do I actually gain from 8 MP over 4 MP?

Reach and cropping room. At 3840×2160 the 2.8 mm version detects people to 86.9 m and the 4.0 mm to 124.1 m, identifying at 8.7 m and 12.4 m. One 4K dome can cover a yard where you would otherwise install two lower-resolution cameras.

Will 4K flood my network and hard disks?

Managed properly, no. The bit rate window is 128 Kbps to 16 Mbps and Ultra 265 with U-code compresses far harder than H.264, so a tuned 4K stream stays practical. Note the 8 MP main stream tops out at 20 fps; 5 MP and 4 MP modes run 30 fps.

Can it record locally without a recorder?

Yes, there is a microSD card slot for edge recording, so a single-camera site can run standalone, and in larger systems the card keeps recording if the network or NVR fails. The built-in microphone adds audio (G.711U/G.711A, 64 Kbps) with audio detection alarms.

How is night performance on an 8 MP sensor?

Easystar keeps color usable down to 0.005 Lux with the F1.6 lens and AGC on, and 120 dB WDR handles mixed light. In darkness, invisible 850 nm Smart IR reaches 30 m with auto intensity control, switching to black and white through the ICR filter.

Is the housing suitable for public and outdoor areas?

Yes. IK10 impact resistance protects against knocks and tampering in reachable public spots, and IP67 sealing handles dust and heavy rain outdoors. Human-body-based cross-line detection, ultra motion detection, tampering alarm and audio detection give practical alerting for busy sites.
