The Uniview NVR501-B Series is a 1-HDD network video recorder offered in three sizes: NVR501-04B (4-ch), NVR501-08B (8-ch) and NVR501-16B (16-ch). All three record cameras up to 16MP with Ultra 265 / H.265 / H.264 compression, output simultaneously over 4K HDMI and VGA, and include built-in Face Detection, Intrusion Detection (SIP) and Ultra Motion Detection (UMD). One SATA bay takes a hard disk up to 24 TB; the local interface is available in 38 languages including Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil) and French.

How many IP cameras can I connect?
The NVR501-04B takes 4 IP cameras, the 08B 8 and the 16B 16, recording up to 16 MP per channel. Incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps, so size camera bitrates to stay inside that figure, and pick the channel count that leaves room to add cameras as the site grows.
How many hard drives fit and what is the maximum capacity?
One SATA bay, taking a surveillance hard drive up to 24 TB. Use surveillance-rated hard drives; real retention depends on camera count, resolution and bitrate, and Ultra 265 keeps files smaller than H.264 at the same image quality, stretching every terabyte further.
How much storage does Ultra 265 save compared with H.264?
Roughly half the storage for the same image: Ultra 265 cuts recording size dramatically versus H.264, so the same 24 TB disk keeps footage for weeks longer — or records more cameras at higher resolution. H.265 and H.264 are also supported for mixed camera fleets.
Does it support face detection and smart search?
Yes, via UNV smart cameras: Face Detection, SIP rules and Ultra Motion Detection on up to 4 channels on the 04B, or 8 channels on the 08B and 16B. The NVR indexes these events for VCA Search — face, vehicle, human-body and people-counting search — so you jump straight to the right clip instead of scrubbing hours of video.
Does it have built-in PoE ports?
No — this series has no PoE ports. It connects through one 10/100 Mbps RJ45 interface, and cameras are powered by an external PoE switch on the LAN. That layout suits projects where cameras are spread across floors or buildings rather than home-run to the recorder.
Can I view live video remotely?
Yes — up to 128 remote users can connect. The recorder supports P2P, DDNS, HTTP/HTTPS and RTSP and works in a browser (IE10/11, Chrome 45+, Edge 79+, Firefox 52+), so an integrator can check several client sites from one office. Outgoing bandwidth for remote streams is 64 Mbps.
