The Uniview NVR501-B-LP Series is a 1-HDD PoE network video recorder offered in two sizes: NVR501-04B-LP4 (4-ch, 4-port PoE) and NVR501-08B-LP8 (8-ch, 8-port PoE). Both record cameras up to 16MP with Ultra 265 / H.265 / H.264 compression, output simultaneously over 4K HDMI and VGA, and include built-in Face Detection, Intrusion Detection (SIP) and Ultra Motion Detection (UMD) feeding VCA search. One SATA bay takes a hard disk up to 24 TB; the local interface is available in 38 languages including Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil) and French.

How many cameras can the NVR501-08B-LP8 power directly?
The NVR501-08B-LP8 records 8 IP cameras through 8 built-in PoE ports (75 W total); the NVR501-04B-LP4 handles 4 cameras with 4 ports (50 W total). Each PoE port delivers up to 30 W (IEEE 802.3at/af), so typical 4–12 W IP cameras plug straight into the recorder — power and video over one cable, no separate PoE switch needed.
How many hard drives fit and what is the maximum capacity?
One SATA bay, taking a surveillance hard drive up to 24 TB. Use surveillance-rated hard drives; real retention depends on camera count, resolution and bitrate, and Ultra 265 keeps files smaller than H.264 at the same image quality, stretching every terabyte further.
What is the maximum camera resolution it records?
It records IP cameras up to 16 MP, decodes Ultra 265, H.265 and H.264, and drives a monitor at 4K (3840×2160) over HDMI with VGA up to 1080p. Incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps across all channels.
Does it support face detection and smart search?
Yes, via UNV smart cameras: Face Detection, SIP rules and Ultra Motion Detection on up to 4 channels on the 04B-LP4, or 8 channels on the 08B-LP8. The NVR indexes these events for VCA Search — face, vehicle, human-body and people-counting search — so you jump straight to the right clip instead of scrubbing hours of video.
Can I view live video remotely?
Yes — up to 128 remote users can connect. The recorder supports P2P, DDNS, HTTP/HTTPS and RTSP and works in a browser (IE10/11, Chrome 45+, Edge 79+, Firefox 52+), so an integrator can check several client sites from one office. Outgoing bandwidth for remote streams is 64 Mbps.
Will it run reliably in hot climates?
The rated working range is -10 °C to 55 °C at up to 90% non-condensing humidity, and the unit draws ≤ 10 W without drives. Give it ventilation and keep it out of direct sun inside equipment cabinets — standard practice for tropical installs.
