Overview

The ZJTS804D is an industrial DIN-rail serial device server that bridges 4 × RS-232/485 serial devices onto an Ethernet network. It offers 1 or 2 × 10/100M auto-adaptive Ethernet ports, WEB-browser remote configuration, and built-in 15KV ESD surge protection on every serial port. Powered by DC5V (5–24V wide-range DC input) with reverse-polarity and overload protection, in a compact 135×117×50mm metal enclosure for DIN-rail or wall mounting, it is built for cabinets that need to connect legacy serial equipment to an Ethernet network.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

Legacy Serial Equipment to Ethernet4 independent RS-232/485 serial ports let PLCs, meters, and other legacy serial-only equipment reach a standard 10/100M Ethernet network — no rewiring of the serial side required.
Electrical Cabinet DIN-Rail MountDefault DIN-rail mounting plus DC5V wide-range 5–24VDC input with reverse-polarity/overload protection fits directly inside control cabinets and junction boxes — the only DIN-rail form factor in this serial-server family.
PLC Automation Cell IntegrationBuilt-in Modbus TCP/IP support lets RS-232/485 PLCs and automation controllers bridge directly onto an Ethernet-based SCADA/HMI network alongside DHCP, Telnet, TCP/UDP and ARP.
Outdoor / Unheated Cabinet DeploymentAn optional wide-temperature version rated -40 to 75°C (vs. -10 to 60°C standard) keeps the serial link running in unheated outdoor cabinets and cold climates.
Choose 1 or 2 Ethernet UplinksSold as -1T (a single 10/100M Ethernet port) or -2T (two 10/100M Ethernet ports) — pick the 2-port SKU when the cabinet needs a second Ethernet connection point without adding a separate switch.
Surge-Prone Field Wiring ProtectionAll 4 serial ports carry built-in 15KV ESD surge protection, guarding against lightning-induced or electrostatic transients common on long field serial cable runs.
Not a good fit if:
  • Not a network switch — 1 or 2 Ethernet ports only bridge serial traffic to IP; no VLAN/RSTP/ring-network switching between multiple LAN devices.
  • IP40 enclosure only — needs a cabinet or additional protection for direct outdoor rain/dust exposure.
  • DC5V (5–24VDC) power only — no AC220V option on this series; sites with only AC mains need a separate DC5V power adapter.

DIN-Rail Serial Device Server FAQ — ZJTS804D

What is the difference between the -1T and -2T versions?
The Ethernet port count. The -1T build has 1 × 10/100Base-T(X) port; the -2T build has 2, both auto-adaptive 10/100Mbps with manual setting supported. Serial capacity is identical — 4 × RS-232/485 on terminal block or DB-9 connectors — so choose -2T when you want a second network connection.
How does the ZJTS804D mount inside a cabinet?
It clips onto a standard DIN rail or screws to a wall — the compact 135×117×50 mm IP40 metal enclosure fits alongside breakers and PLC modules in the same cabinet. That makes it the natural pick over desktop models when the serial equipment already lives in a control cabinet.
What power input does it need? Is there an AC version?
This series is DC-only: DC5V nominal with a wide 5–24VDC input range, drawing 4 W maximum, with reverse-polarity and overload protection. There is no AC220V option on the ZJTS804D — if you need mains AC input, look at the desktop ZJTS804 instead, which offers both.
How is each serial port protected against surges?
Every serial port carries built-in 15KV ESD surge protection with electromagnetic isolation, and the unit meets EN61000-4-2/3/4/5/6/8 at Level 3 plus IEC60068 shock, free-fall and vibration standards. That protects RS-485 field buses running near motors, contactors and long outdoor cable runs.
Which protocols and configuration methods does it support?
Configuration is remote via WEB browser; protocols include DHCP, Telnet, TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, ARP and Modbus TCP/IP. The Windows virtual COM driver (NT through 11) maps the 4 remote serial ports to local COM numbers. Serial side: 300 bps–230.4 Kbps, data bits 5–8, five parity modes, RTS/CTS and XON/XOFF flow control.
