Why is the IPC2314LE-ADF28(40)KM-WP so good in low light?

It pairs a large 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensor with an F1.0 lens — a combination that reaches 0.0003 lux in color — and Wise-ISP processing that optimizes color accuracy, fine detail and motion smear in extreme low light. Streets with weak public lighting stay in usable color without any illuminator.

Does it switch to black-and-white IR mode at night?

No. There is no IR mode on this model — night coverage comes from a warm-light illuminator reaching up to 30 m (98.4 ft), switchable Auto or Manual, so footage stays in full color all night. Keep that in mind if you specifically need covert, unlit surveillance.

How wide is the field of view?

Very wide for a bullet: the 2.8 mm version covers 124.3° horizontally (135° diagonal), often enough to watch a whole forecourt with one unit. The 4.0 mm covers 96.1° but reaches farther — 62.1 m detection and 6.2 m identification versus 43.4 m and 4.3 m on the 2.8 mm.

Can it store recordings on the camera itself?

Yes. The microSD slot takes cards up to 512 GB, so the camera keeps recording locally if the NVR or network fails — or serves small sites with no recorder at all. The main stream runs 4 MP (2688×1520) at up to 25 fps with Ultra 265 compression to stretch card capacity.

What detection and alarm functions does it include?

Smart Intrusion Prevention (Lite) provides intrusion and cross-line detection based on human body and vehicle recognition, so alarms fire on people and cars rather than animals. Ultra motion detection, tampering alarm and audio detection back it up, with a built-in mic recording G.711 audio.

How do I install it outdoors and what about backlight?

One PoE cable powers it and carries the video, and the IP67 body handles rain and dust. The mount adjusts pan 0–360°, tilt 0–90°, rotate 0–360°. For scenes mixing bright and dark zones — a lit forecourt against a dark street — 120 dB WDR with HLC and BLC keeps both readable.
