The Uniview NVR502-B-P Series is a 2-HDD PoE network video recorder offered in three sizes: NVR502-08B-P8 (8-ch, 8 PoE ports), NVR502-16B-P16 (16-ch, 16 PoE ports) and NVR502-32B-P16 (32-ch, 16 PoE ports). All three record cameras up to 16MP with Ultra 265 / H.265 / H.264 compression, output independently over 4K HDMI and VGA, and support Face Detection, Face Comparison, Vehicle Detection (LPR) and other Smart-by-IPC analytics. Two SATA bays take hard disks up to 24 TB each with RAID 1 and redundant storage support; the local interface is available in 38 languages including Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil) and French.

How many cameras can the NVR502-16B-P16 power directly?

The NVR502-08B-P8 has 8 built-in PoE ports (130 W total); the 16B-P16 and 32B-P16 have 16 ports, with a 240 W budget on the 16B-P16. Each PoE port delivers up to 30 W (IEEE 802.3at/af), so typical 4–12 W IP cameras plug straight into the recorder — power and video over one cable, no separate PoE switch needed.

How many IP cameras can I connect?

The NVR502-08B-P8 records 8 IP cameras, the 16B-P16 16 and the 32B-P16 32, up to 16 MP per channel. Incoming bandwidth is 320 Mbps, so size camera bitrates to stay inside that figure, and pick the channel count that leaves room to add cameras as the site grows.

What happens if a hard drive fails?

The two SATA bays (up to 24 TB each) support Disk Group and Redundant Storage with RAID 1 mirroring, so both disks hold an identical copy of critical footage. A single drive failure then doesn't stop recording or lose the protected footage — worth enabling on sites where video is evidence, such as shops, warehouses and residential compounds.

Can I connect alarm sensors and sirens?

Yes — it has 8 alarm inputs and 2 alarm outputs plus an RS485 port, so PIR sensors, door contacts or sirens wire directly to the recorder and can trigger recording, snapshots or notifications alongside the video events.

Does it support face detection and smart search?

Yes — with UNV smart cameras, every channel can report Face Detection, Face Comparison, Vehicle Detection (LPR) and Temperature Detection events (up to 8 images/s total). The NVR indexes these events for VCA Search — face snapshot/comparison, vehicle and human-body search — so you jump straight to the right clip instead of scrubbing hours of video.

Can I view live video remotely?

Yes — up to 128 remote users can connect. The recorder supports P2P, DDNS, HTTP/HTTPS and RTSP and works in a browser (IE10/11, Chrome 45+, Edge 79+, Firefox 52+), so an integrator can check several client sites from one office. Outgoing bandwidth for remote streams is 160 Mbps.
