The Uniview NVR508-E-R Series is an 8-bay 2U rack-mount network video recorder offered in three sizes: NVR508-32E-R (32-ch), NVR508-64E-R (64-ch) and NVR508-128E-R (128-ch). All three record cameras up to 32MP with Ultra 265 / H.265 / H.264 compression, support hot-swappable SATA drives (up to 24 TB each) configurable as RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10, and accept an optional second power supply for redundancy. The recorder outputs over 2 HDMI and 2 VGA ports, includes Smart features such as face, vehicle (LPR) and temperature detection, and provides a 38-language local interface.

How many IP cameras can the NVR508-E-R series record?

32, 64 or 128 IP cameras depending on the model, all with 384 Mbps incoming and 384 Mbps outgoing bandwidth. Recording resolution reaches 32 MP per channel, and decoding covers up to 8x 4K at 30 fps or 32x 1080P at 30 fps for live view and playback.

Can I replace a failed hard drive without stopping the recorder?

Yes. The 8 SATA bays are hot-swappable and support RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 with N+1 hot spare — you pull the failed drive and insert a new one while the array and the recordings keep working. Each bay accepts up to 24 TB, 192 TB total.

Does the NVR508-E-R have PoE ports for the cameras?

No PoE ports — this is a central rack recorder with two gigabit RJ45 interfaces, one eSATA port and a 12 V power output. Feed the cameras from PoE switches in the field and bring the streams back to the NVR over the network.

What smart search can I run across 128 channels?

The recorder receives AI metadata from the cameras (Smart by IPC, up to 16 images/s in total): face detection and comparison, vehicle detection with LPR and temperature detection. You then run face snapshot, vehicle, human body and general VCA searches, plus heat map and people counting, with up to 25,000 vehicle pictures stored.

Can I monitor the system remotely?

Yes. Up to 128 remote users can connect at the same time via P2P, HTTP/HTTPS, RTSP or DDNS, and outgoing bandwidth is 384 Mbps for remote streams. Supported browsers are Chrome 45+, Edge 79+, Firefox 52+ and IE10/11.
