The Uniview NVR816-R-IM Series is a 16-HDD, 3U rack-mount network video recorder offered in two sizes: NVR816-64-R-IM-4G (64-ch) and NVR816-128-R-IM-8G (128-ch). Both record cameras up to 12MP with Ultra 265 / H.265 / H.264 compression, output independently over two HDMI ports (each up to 4K) plus one VGA port, and support hot-swappable SATA bays with RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 and an optional second power supply for redundancy. Each of the 16 SATA bays takes a hard disk up to 16 TB, two miniSAS ports allow expansion to an external disk enclosure, and the local interface is available in 38 languages including Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil) and French.
Is this the right recorder for you?
Plain-language guide for buyers and installers — based only on what this recorder actually does.
- A compact desktop unit — this is a 3U, 482×533×131mm rack-mount chassis (about 12.5kg without HDDs), not a desktop recorder
- Built-in PoE ports — cameras need a separate PoE switch
- A second power supply included as standard — the redundant PSU (PWR-DC12-350A-IN) is an optional add-on, not included
- A small deployment — this series starts at 64 channels; a lower-channel Uniview NVR fits smaller sites better
- Full NVR-side smart analytics on any third-party camera — Smart-by-NVR functions on non-Uniview ("normal") cameras are capped to 32-ch on the 64-R-IM-4G / 64-ch on the 128-R-IM-8G, not all channels
Worried about counterfeits? Order under your own company name.
For corporate buyers: we support submitting the purchase order to Uniview under your company's real name — your company appears on the official order, so the origin of the goods can be verified directly with the manufacturer. Just provide your company name and pay by corporate bank transfer. Models carrying the anti-counterfeit label can also be self-verified on Uniview's official Anti-Counterfeiting Query page — enter the unit's SN plus the scratch-off code.
Using your own freight forwarder? No problem.
For small and mid-size orders, we deliver directly to your designated forwarder's warehouse in China (EXW / FOB Guangzhou). From hand-over onward, international shipping and destination-side arrangements are handled by your forwarder — the way you already work.
Key Features

Sixteen bays. Seven RAID levels. Zero downtime.
Two real capabilities from the datasheet that matter most on large, mission-critical sites: hot-swap storage redundancy and city-scale smart search.
16 bays, seven RAID levels, one live swap
16 hot-swap SATA bays with RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 and N+1 hot spare — replace a failed disk without powering down, and expand further with two miniSAS ports to an external 16-bay enclosure.
Find one face or one vehicle across 128 channels
VCA Search indexes face snapshots, face comparisons, motor and non-motor vehicles, and human bodies — combined with a vehicle picture library holding up to 25,000 images across 5 libraries, so investigators jump straight to the match instead of scrubbing footage channel by channel.
