Overview

The Uniarch SW-2218-LP is a 19-inch rack-mount unmanaged PoE switch with 18 ports — 16 × 100Mbps PoE ports (IEEE 802.3af/at, up to 30 W each, 150 W total) plus 1 × 1000Mbps Gigabit uplink and 1 × 1000Mbps Combo uplink port. Three switchable working modes cover real sites: Normal, Secure (downlink ports isolated, talking only to uplinks) and Surveillance, which extends PoE transmission up to 250 m for far cameras. A fanless all-metal 1U housing and NDAA compliance make it a quiet, dependable power-and-data hub for larger camera systems.

16-Port PoE Switch FAQ — SW-2218-LP

How many cameras can the SW-2218-LP support?
It has 16 PoE ports with a 150W total budget — roughly 9W average per port, comfortable for typical 4–12W fixed IP cameras as long as the total stays under 150W. Any port can deliver up to 30W for PTZ or IR-heavy models, and ports 1–8 hold PoE priority.
What uplinks does it offer toward the NVR?
Two gigabit uplinks: one 1000 Mbps RJ45 port plus one 1000 Mbps Combo port. With 7.2 Gbps switching capacity, 5.36 Mpps forwarding, a 16K MAC table and 4 Mbit buffer, the 16 fast-Ethernet camera ports aggregate cleanly into a gigabit backbone to the NVR or core switch.
Can it feed cameras beyond the usual cable distance?
Yes — in Surveillance (EXTEND) mode, PoE transmission extends up to 250 m per run for distant gate and perimeter cameras. Two other modes are available: Normal, where all ports intercommunicate, and Secure, where downlink ports talk only to the uplinks for camera isolation.
Can it be rack-mounted and how is it powered?
Yes — it is a 19-inch 1U unit (440 x 189.8 x 44 mm, 1.99 kg) with a built-in AC 100–240V, 50/60 Hz power supply, so no external adapter is needed. Maximum draw is 165W. The fanless all-metal chassis runs silently from 0 to 45 degC.
Which PoE standards and wiring modes does it support?
It is an unmanaged switch following IEEE 802.3af/at, delivering PoE in both Mode A (pins 1/2/3/6) and Mode B (pins 4/5/7/8) at up to 30W per port. It is NDAA compliant, and the PoE-MAX LED warns when load passes 85% of the 150W budget.
