The ZTE Wantong S1000 SMB series is the entry level of the ZTE Wantong switching family: unmanaged Ethernet switches built for quick deployment and simple access in small businesses, hotels, internet cafés and schools. This page covers seven models in two groups. The four S1000-P models are PoE switches with 8 or 24 PoE ports to IEEE 802.3af (15.4 W) and 802.3at (30 W), plus non-PoE GE RJ45 or GE SFP ports toward the NVR or the rest of the network. The three non-PoE access models are sold as ZXWT S1000 1160-8, 1160-10 and 1160-26 and are part of the same S1000 SMB family; on this page we use the codes S1160-8, S1160-10 and S1160-26. All models auto-negotiate 10/100/1000M and need no configuration. Specifications below are quoted from the manufacturer's datasheet; fields it does not give are left out.

Is this the right switch series for you?

Plain-language guide — based only on what these switches actually do.

Small CCTV systemsAn 8- or 24-camera job on one switch: cameras on the PoE ports, NVR on a non-PoE GE port, no software to set up. Typical for shops, warehouses, homes and small offices.
Hotels, internet cafés and classroomsGigabit desk and room ports where nobody will manage the switch: the S1160 models add ports at 2–18 W, and the PoE models can also feed ceiling APs or IP phones.
Fiber link to a nearby buildingWhen cable runs exceed 100 m, pick a model with a GE SFP port (9GT1GX-P, 24GT2GX-P, S1160-10, S1160-26) and run fiber back to the main switch or NVR room.
Not the right pick if you need…
  • VLANs, SNMP, remote monitoring or PoE port control — these switches are unmanaged; see the managed ZTE Wantong S5150 gigabit series or the S2150-S Fast Ethernet access series
  • 10G uplinks for a large camera or office network — the ZTE Wantong S5160-HE series has 4×10GE SFP+ on every model
  • Routing between networks or loop/ring protection — look at the S5150-SE models or the ZTE Wantong S5860-S routing switch series

Who uses it, where it goes and how to pick the model

Written for the ZTE Wantong S1000 SMB series from its own specifications: 7 unmanaged models, 8 to 26 ports, 802.3af/at PoE on 8 or 24 ports, listed power 120 W to 450 W on the PoE models, GE SFP on four models.

Who it is for

  • Small CCTV installers — Kits of 8 or 24 IP cameras: the S1000-P models power the cameras over the same cable and send the video to the NVR through a non-PoE GE port, with nothing to configure on site.
  • Shops, SOHO and small offices — A few more gigabit ports for PCs, printers and POS terminals: the S1160-8 is 153×65×28 mm and runs on a 2 W adapter, so it sits on a desk or behind a counter.
  • Hotels and internet cafés — Rows of gigabit ports for rooms or gaming PCs: the S1160-26 gives 24 GE ports and 2 GE SFP at ≤18 W, and the S1000-24GT2GX-P can feed 24 ceiling APs or cameras from one cabinet.
  • Schools — Classroom and computer-lab switches that teachers can replace without IT skills: plug and play, auto MDI/MDIX, and an operating range from -20°C.

Where and how to install

  • Desktop, shelf or rack — The 8- and 10-port models are 153–222 mm wide, so place them on a desk, a shelf or a cabinet tray. The S1000-24GT2GX-P is 440 mm wide and 44 mm high, the width of a 19-inch rack unit; the S1160-26 is 400 mm wide, so confirm rack ears with us if it must go in a 19-inch rack.
  • Power and UPS — The PoE models take AC 100–240 V on a single power supply; the S1160-8 runs from an external adapter. Since cameras lose power when the switch does, put the PoE switch and NVR on a UPS sized for the camera load plus the switch.
  • Cable runs — Copper runs are rated up to 100 m. Use Cat5 or better for the PoE models and Cat5e or better for gigabit on the S1160 models, and for PoE cameras near the 100 m limit use solid copper cable rather than copper-clad aluminium.
  • Fiber to the main room — The 9GT1GX-P has 1 GE SFP, the 24GT2GX-P, S1160-10 and S1160-26 have 2. Fit 1G SFP modules of the same type (single-mode or multimode, matching wavelength) at both ends; the 8FT2GT-P, 10GT-P and S1160-8 have no SFP and need a media converter for fiber.
  • Heat and enclosure — Rated operating range is -20°C to 55°C for the PoE models and -20°C to 60°C for the S1160 models. No waterproof rating is listed, so outdoors or in dusty sites use a ventilated enclosure, and keep the PoE models away from other hot devices in a closed box.

S1000 SMB planning: which of the 7 models

All seven are unmanaged switches; they differ in port count, PoE and whether there is an SFP fiber port. The datasheet gives one power figure per PoE model without saying whether it is the PoE budget or total power; the camera counts below assume it is the PoE budget, so confirm per order before planning high-power devices. Counts use about 6 W per typical fixed IP camera and 30 W per port for PTZ cameras or high-power APs; the real limit is whichever runs out first, ports or power.

  • Pick the S1000-24GT2GX-P for a 24-camera site on one switch: 24 cameras at ~6 W use 144 W of its listed 450 W, and its 2 GE SFP ports reach the NVR room over fiber.
  • Pick the S1000-9GT1GX-P for 8 cameras in a remote building: one SFP port takes the fiber back, the spare GE RJ45 port serves a local device.
  • Pick an S1160 model when nothing needs PoE: the S1160-8 for a desk, the S1160-26 for a room of 24 PCs with 2 SFP fiber uplinks.

— = not listed / not applicable. Values are from the page's specification tables. "96 / 120 W" means two power versions of the same model. Camera counts are arithmetic: listed power ÷ assumed watts per port, capped at the number of PoE ports, assuming the listed figure is the PoE budget.

Engineer's note: Tell us how many cameras or APs you plan per switch, their wattage and your longest cable runs — we will match the model, confirm which power version (96 W or 120 W) the 10GT-P or 9GT1GX-P order ships with, and list the SFP modules for any fiber link, free of charge. These switches are unmanaged; if the project needs VLANs or remote monitoring we will propose a managed S5150 or S2150-S model instead.

Unmanaged SMB Switch FAQ — S1000 Series

Should I choose an S1000-P PoE model or an S1160 model?
Choose an S1000-P model when the devices take power over the network cable — IP cameras, APs, IP phones — since its 8 or 24 PoE ports follow 802.3af/at at up to 30 W per port. Choose an S1160 when the devices have their own power, such as PCs, printers or an NVR: it draws only 2 W, 4 W or ≤18 W. Both groups are gigabit (except the 100M PoE ports of the 8FT2GT-P) and both need no configuration.
How many IP cameras can the S1000-24GT2GX-P power?
It has 24 PoE ports and a listed power of 450 W. If that figure is the PoE budget, 24 cameras at about 6 W use only 144 W, and up to 15 ports could run at a full 30 W at the same time. The datasheet does not say whether 450 W is the PoE budget or total power, so we confirm it for each order before you plan many high-power PTZ cameras.
What does "96/120W" mean on the S1000-10GT-P and S1000-9GT1GX-P?
The datasheet lists these two models at 96/120 W, which we read as two power versions of the same model. For 8 cameras at about 6 W (48 W) either version is enough; if you plan 30 W devices, the 96 W version covers 3 ports at full 30 W and the 120 W version 4, assuming the figure is the PoE budget. Tell us your load and we confirm which version is supplied.
Are the 100M PoE ports of the S1000-8FT2GT-P enough for cameras?
For typical IP cameras, yes: a camera stream of a few Mbps is far below 100 Mbps per port, and the two GE RJ45 ports carry all 8 streams to the NVR or router. Its MAC table is 2K and forwarding rate 4.166 Mpps, sized for a small system. For Wi-Fi APs or devices that need gigabit per port, pick the S1000-10GT-P or S1000-9GT1GX-P instead.
Do these switches need any setup, and do they support VLANs?
No setup is needed: they are unmanaged, plug-and-play switches with auto-negotiation and automatic straight/crossover cable detection. Because they are unmanaged, the datasheet lists no VLAN, SNMP, web interface or PoE port control. If you need to separate camera and office traffic or monitor the switch remotely, use a managed model such as the S5150 or S2150-S series.
Can I order under my own company name and use my own forwarder?
Yes to both. Corporate buyers can have the purchase order submitted to the manufacturer under their own company name, so your company appears on the official order. For small and mid-size orders we also deliver directly to your designated forwarder's warehouse in China on EXW or FOB terms.
Is one 1G uplink enough for 24 cameras on an S1000-24GT2GX-P?
Usually yes. 24 cameras at 8 Mbps each add up to about 192 Mbps, well under 1 Gbps; add the main and sub streams of your cameras to check. The switch has 52 Gbps backplane bandwidth and 38.69 Mpps forwarding, so the ports themselves run at wire speed. The second GE SFP port can connect another switch or a second NVR.
Can I connect several S1000 switches together?
Yes, cascade them through a GE RJ45 or GE SFP port in a simple tree: one cable from each switch back toward the main switch or NVR. No loop or ring protection (such as STP) is listed for these unmanaged switches, so never connect two cables between the same pair of switches. Keep the camera count on any chain within what a 1 Gbps link carries.
Which SFP modules go in the S1000 and S1160 fiber ports?
The fiber ports are GE SFP, so use 1G SFP modules; 10G SFP+ modules are not listed for them. Choose single-mode or multimode by your fiber, and fit the same type and wavelength at both ends, or a matched single-fiber BiDi pair. A third-party module compatibility list is not published, so send us the module you plan to use or let us supply matched optics.
What happens if a camera is more than 100 m from the switch?
The datasheet rates copper links at up to 100 m, and beyond that both data and PoE power become unreliable. Put a second PoE switch near the cameras and link it back by fiber through an SFP port (the 9GT1GX-P has 1, the 24GT2GX-P has 2), or use a PoE extender. Use solid copper Cat5 or better for PoE runs close to the limit.
Will an S1000-P switch damage a camera or PC that does not use PoE?
The PoE ports follow IEEE 802.3af/at, and standard 802.3af/at PoE only sends power after detecting a compliant powered device, so a normal PC or NVR on a PoE port just gets data. Older passive-PoE devices (for example 24 V passive) do not follow 802.3af/at and need their own injector. For an NVR or PC, the non-PoE GE ports are the natural choice anyway.
Can I order one unit first, and how does it reach my country?
Yes — a single sample can be ordered and sent by air. For larger orders we deliver EXW or FOB to your freight forwarder's warehouse in China, or arrange air or sea freight to your country on request. Every shipment comes with a commercial invoice and packing list for customs; import duties and VAT in your country are not included unless agreed in writing.
How do I pay?
By bank transfer (T/T) in US dollars against our proforma invoice, which lists the model, quantity, unit price, delivery terms and lead time. You can check our company details on the verification page before you pay.
