The ZTE Wantong S5160-HE series is a full-gigabit box switch for enterprise desktop access and small aggregation. The four models offer 24 or 48 GE RJ45 ports, and every one has four 10GE SFP+ uplinks, so a floor switch can reach the aggregation layer at 10G instead of 1G. Switching capacity is 432 Gbps / 4.32 Tbps on all models, with 156/168 Mpps on the 28-port and 196/222 Mpps on the 52-port units. The PX models add 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W per port and 370 W per unit. Software is shared: static/RIP/OSPF and IPv6 routing, L2/L3 multicast, ERPS/ZESR rings, MC-LAG, VSC clustering and zero-touch deployment. All values below come from the manufacturer's documents; fields that were not published are left out.

Is this the right access series for you?
Plain-language guide — based only on what these switches actually do.
- An aggregation or data-centre switch with dense 10G/25G/100G ports — that's the ZTE Wantong S6850-X series, or the S5860-E series for 10G aggregation
- A chassis-based network core — the ZTE Wantong S7850 modular core series covers that
- Plain gigabit access with 1G SFP uplinks on a tighter budget — the ZTE Wantong S5150 series, or the S2150-S and S1000 SMB lines for FE or unmanaged switching
Worried about the source? Order under your own company name.
For corporate buyers: we support submitting the purchase order to the manufacturer under your company's real name — your company appears on the official order, so the origin of the goods can be verified directly with the factory. Just provide your company name and pay by corporate bank transfer.
Using your own freight forwarder? No problem.
For small and mid-size orders, we deliver directly to your designated forwarder's warehouse in China — EXW or FOB, your choice, each quoted separately. From hand-over onward, international shipping and destination-side arrangements are handled by your forwarder — the way you already work.

Who uses it, where it goes and how to plan the access layer
Written for the ZTE Wantong S5160-HE series from its own specifications: 4 models with 24 or 48 GE ports, 4×10GE SFP+ uplinks on every model, PoE+ up to 30 W per port and 370 W per unit on the PX models, static/RIP/OSPF routing.
Who it is for
- Enterprise IT and office buildings — One switch per floor or wiring closet: 24 or 48 GE desk ports, Voice VLAN for IP phones, 802.1x/Portal/MAC authentication with RADIUS, and a 10G uplink so busy floors are not limited by a 1G link.
- Campus, school and government projects — Many identical access switches under one aggregation layer: zero-touch deployment, automatic configuration download and remote batch upgrade cut on-site work, and VSC clustering lets several units be managed as one.
- CCTV and Wi-Fi integrators — The 28PX-HE and 52PX-HE power cameras and APs at up to 30 W per port from 370 W, while the 10GE SFP+ uplinks carry many camera streams to the NVR room without a 1G bottleneck.
- ISPs and building-broadband operators — At the subscriber edge, QinQ, flexible QinQ, VLAN translation, PVLAN and MFF keep customers separated, Ethernet OAM (EFM, CFM, Y.1731) helps fault-finding, and SNMP v1/v2/v3 and sFlow feed the operator's NMS.
Where and how to install
- Rack or wall cabinet — All models are 43.6 mm (1U) high and 442 mm wide for a 19-inch rack. The S5160-28X-HE is 208 mm deep and fits a shallow wall cabinet; the other three are 330 mm deep, so check the cabinet depth and leave room for cables at the front.
- Power — All models take AC 100–240 V, 50–60 Hz, from a single power supply. A loaded PX unit can draw up to 430 W, so give the cabinet its own protected circuit and size the UPS for the PoE load; the X models draw only 40 W or 60 W.
- Cooling and temperature — The X models are fanless with natural cooling and are rated -10°C to +45°C; the PX models use forced air with temperature-controlled fans and are rated -10°C to +50°C. Keep the vents clear and do not stack the switches tightly against other hot equipment in a closed cabinet.
- 10G fibre uplinks to aggregation — Every model has 4×10GE SFP+ uplinks. Use fibre for runs over 100 m or between buildings, with the same type of 10G module at both ends; two uplinks to two aggregation switches can be protected with MC-LAG, ZESS or an ERPS/ZESR ring.
- Management network — Put each switch's management IP in a dedicated management VLAN reachable only from the NOC, and use SSHv2 and SNMP v3 rather than Telnet. Label the RJ45 console port and keep a console cable in the cabinet for first setup and recovery.
S5160-HE series planning: which of the 4 models
All four are full-gigabit access switches with 4×10GE SFP+ uplinks and the same routing software; they differ in port count and PoE. Camera counts assume about 6 W per typical fixed IP camera and 30 W per port for PTZ cameras or high-power APs; the real limit is whichever runs out first, ports or budget.

- Pick the S5160-28PX-HE for a camera floor of up to 24 devices: 370 W covers all 24 ports at ~6 W, or 12 PTZ-class ports at a full 30 W.
- Pick the S5160-52PX-HE when 48 cameras or APs share one cabinet; its 370 W feeds 48 ports at ~6 W but only 12 ports at a full 30 W, so split high-power APs across switches.
- Pick the S5160-28X-HE or 52X-HE for silent office and classroom racks: no fan, 40 W or 60 W maximum, and the 28X-HE is only 208 mm deep.
— = not applicable. Values are from the manufacturer's specification table; switching capacity is shown as the first of the two published figures (432 Gbps / 4.32 Tbps). Camera counts are arithmetic: budget ÷ assumed watts per port, capped at the number of PoE ports.
