Bank Security: From the Fence to the Vault, Every Zone Has Its Own Answer

A bank branch is seven different security problems in one building: perimeter, entrance, lobby, teller counters, ATM zone, vault and back offices. This solution treats each zone with purpose-built devices, ties them to one alarm chain, and reports every branch to one headquarters platform with bank-grade redundant storage.

Why Bank Security Is Different

Four realities that ordinary CCTV cannot handle:

ATM zones attract troubleRobbery, vandalism, card-skimming, people camping overnight — the ATM lobby is the branch's most exposed square meter, open 24/7.
Disputes need proof"I gave you ten notes, you counted nine" — without synchronized video, audio and timestamps, a counter dispute becomes the bank's word against the customer's.
The vault allows zero errorBy the time someone touches the vault door it is already too late — the security answer must start at the approach, not at the breach.
Many branches, one standardHead office must audit every branch to the same standard — separate recorders with separate rules make compliance a guessing game.

Zone by Zone, What It Does

Six zone answers from the official solution — each one maps to a real incident type:

Entrance that reads faces against the sun130 dB true WDR keeps faces clear against glass-door glare; face capture flags blacklisted individuals and recognizes VIP customers the moment they walk in, with footfall statistics for peak planning.
A lobby that manages its own queueOne 360° fisheye covers the whole hall; heat maps and density statistics by hour/day/week tell you how many windows to open — queue time drops without hiring anyone.
Counters where every word is on record8MP detail imaging with built-in microphone: when a dispute comes, you pull video + audio + transaction time in one search — the argument ends with facts, not raised voices.
ATMs that fight backIK10 vandal-proof, IP67 housings; long-stay, fight and ATM-smashing detection push alarms in real time; low-light enhancement keeps the 3 a.m. picture usable.
A vault that warns before it's touchedCross-line and intrusion detection on the approach path trigger red-blue strobes, high-volume voice warnings and two-way audio — deterrence begins meters before the door.
A panic button that does five thingsOne press: locks video to the event, starts audio recording, pops the control-room screen, notifies guards, opens a video call to verify — robbery, fraud-in-progress or a customer medical emergency, same chain.

The Numbers That Matter

Key capabilities from the official solution:
Entrance imaging: 130 dB true WDR — faces stay clear against glass-door glare
Counter cameras: 8MP with built-in microphone — video + audio + timestamp for disputes
ATM housings: IK10 vandal-resistant, IP67, with password-area privacy masking
Face access on staff doors: ~0.2 s, photo-spoof resistant
One platform: up to 10,000 channels — RAID + hot-standby + IPSAN for bank-grade retention

System Components

These are the equipment roles the solution is built from. Exact models are chosen per site conditions, country requirements and budget — several of our product lines fit each role, so we spec the model list after receiving your requirement list.

Entrance & lobby WDR domesWDR domes against door glare for public areas; the entrance position feeds face capture and footfall statistics.
Perimeter bulletsWide-view bullets with IR night vision cover the building sides and rear service lane; cross-line and intrusion analytics with target classification (person / vehicle).

Design Notes & Honest Limits

Read this before you order:
  • Audio recording laws differ by country — some require visible notices or two-party consent. Confirm your jurisdiction's rules before enabling counter microphones; we configure notice-triggered recording where required.
  • Deterrence supplements, never replaces, physical security: vault construction, time locks, insurance requirements and guard procedures stay exactly as your regulator and insurer demand.
  • Retention is a legal number, not a technical preference: confirm your central bank / regulator's minimum days first — storage is then sized backwards from cameras × bitrate × days, with RAID overhead on top.
  • Face recognition of customers is regulated in many countries (consent, signage, data protection). Staff-door access control is usually safe; customer-facing recognition needs a legal check first — we can ship the system with it disabled.
  • HQ live walls pull bandwidth from every branch — plan WAN links (or sub-stream viewing) before promising a 50-branch wall, and put the platform on UPS like any other banking system.

FAQ

How many cameras does a typical bank branch need?
A mid-size branch (300–600 m², 4–8 counters) typically runs 16–32 cameras: entrance 2–3, lobby fisheye 1 + domes 2–4, one per counter, ATM zone 2–3, vault approach 2, back offices and corridors 4–6, perimeter 4–6, parking per lane. Regulation may set minimums per zone — send your layout and local rules, the zoned count is free.
Is audio recording at counters legal?
It depends on your country: some allow it with visible notice, some require consent, a few restrict it entirely. The microphones are per-camera and can ship disabled; where notice is required we help you configure signage-plus-recording correctly. Confirm with your compliance team — we will not pretend this question doesn't exist.
How is the ATM password area protected from the camera itself?
With privacy masking: the keypad region is blacked out inside the camera before encoding, so the PIN area never exists in any recording — not hidden afterwards, never recorded at all. The rest of the scene (face, posture, cash slot) stays fully visible for security.
How long can recordings be kept?
As long as your storage allows — the architecture (RAID + IPSAN + hot standby, plus ultra-high compression the official material rates at up to ~80% bandwidth/storage saving) is built for bank-grade long retention. The real constraint is your regulator's minimum: give us cameras × days and we size the disks backwards from it.
Can headquarters watch all branches live?
Yes — one platform takes up to 10,000 channels across branches, with per-branch permissions, unified alarm handling and dashboards for footfall, vehicles, device health and storage status. Live walls need WAN bandwidth planning (see Design Notes) — audit-style spot checks over sub-streams are cheap; a permanent 100-camera wall is not.
