Design Notes & Honest Limits
Read this before you order:
- Hazardous-zone compliance comes first: your country classifies the forecourt and unloading pad into explosion-risk zones, and every powered device there must carry a matching certification. We match camera certs to your zone drawing before quoting — send it with your layout.
- Smoking detection warns and records — it cannot take the lighter away. Its value is the instant loudspeaker challenge (most people stop) plus the evidence trail; your staff procedures remain the enforcement.
- Video fire detection supplements — never replaces — your certified fire-suppression and gas-detection systems required by fuel-retail regulation. It buys early minutes; the certified systems do the fighting.
- Canopy heat is brutal: cabinets over the pumps bake in summer. Use wide-temperature switches (that is why we specify industrial grade), ventilate the cabinet, and keep power supplies off the hottest wall.
- For chains: standardize one station kit first (pilot 1–2 sites), then replicate — mixed configurations across stations multiply maintenance cost and confuse HQ operators. The platform manages 10+ stations comfortably once kits match.

How many cameras does a standard gas station need?
A typical 4–8 pump station runs 12–20 cameras: forecourt dual-lens PTZ 1–2 plus bullets per island pair, entrances/exits 2–3 with ANPR, unloading pad 1–2 explosion-proof, store 3–5, cashier 1, storeroom and office 2–3, plus the perimeter corners. What certification do the explosion-proof cameras carry?
Honest answer: it must match your country's hazardous-zone classification, and standards differ (IECEx, ATEX, national schemes). We provide each model's certification documents before you order and check them against your site's zone drawing — if a zone demands a rating we cannot certify, we say so instead of shipping a liability.
What happens when someone lights a cigarette at the pump?
Within seconds: the AI flags the smoking behavior, the forecourt loudspeaker plays an immediate warning, the event pops on the station office screen and pushes to the manager's phone, and the clip is saved. Most offenders stop at the loudspeaker — the record covers the ones who argue. The same chain runs for phone use in the fueling area.
Can a fuel chain manage all stations centrally?
Yes — each station runs autonomously (local recording, local alarms) while headquarters sees every site on one platform: live spot checks, alarm statistics, device health, footfall and vehicle data per station. Standardize the station kit first (see Design Notes) and new sites onboard by shipping them a pre-configured box.
Does the POS overlay work with fuel-station payment systems?
Same honest rule as all POS integrations: it depends on the protocol. Fuel retail often runs specialized POS/forecourt controllers — send the brand and model, and we confirm native support, scope an adapter, or say plainly it will not integrate. Store-side registers are usually the easy part; pump-integrated payment is the part we check carefully.
