The ZTE Wantong ISG IR series is a family of industrial IoT cellular routers that connect remote equipment over public 3G/4G or 5G networks. All six models use an industrial 32-bit communication processor, an industrial wireless module and an embedded real-time OS, in a metal IP30 housing rated -35 to +75°C with DC 5–36 V input. Each has a serial port for transparent data transfer from RS232/RS485 devices, plus Ethernet routing with NAT, firewall, DHCP, DDNS, APN/VPDN and, on the VPN version, PPTP/L2TP/IPsec. Optional dual-link failover backs up a wired WAN with cellular. The IR110 and IR120 pairs are 4G LTE routers with one WAN and four LAN ports; the IR520 and IR530 are compact 5G NR units. All specifications below are quoted from the manufacturer's documents — where a field was not published, we leave it out.
Three groups, one industrial router platform
How the IR110, IR120 and IR520/IR530 split the job — so you order the one that fits the site.
Is this the right router series for you?
Plain-language guide — based only on what these routers actually do.
- A branch-office router with more wired ports and throughput — that's the ZTE Wantong ISG access routers (ISG 1800-2S / 2800-4 / 3800-8)
- PoE to power cameras directly — these routers have no PoE; add a small PoE switch such as the ZTE Wantong S1000 SMB series behind the LAN port
- Next-generation firewall functions such as IPS and antivirus at a site edge — the ZTE Wantong ISG F-series firewalls cover that
Worried about the source? Order under your own company name.
For corporate buyers: we support submitting the purchase order to the manufacturer under your company's real name — your company appears on the official order, so the origin of the goods can be verified directly with the factory. Just provide your company name and pay by corporate bank transfer.
Using your own freight forwarder? No problem.
For small and mid-size orders, we deliver directly to your designated forwarder's warehouse in China — EXW or FOB, your choice, each quoted separately. From hand-over onward, international shipping and destination-side arrangements are handled by your forwarder — the way you already work.

Who uses it, where it goes and how to plan a cellular site
Written for the ZTE Wantong ISG IR series from its own specifications: 6 industrial routers, 4G LTE on all and 5G NR on two, a serial port on every model, DC 5–36 V input, -35 to +75°C, metal IP30 housing, no PoE.
Who it is for
- CCTV installers with remote sites — Farms, construction sites, warehouses, roadside poles and solar-powered camera points with no fixed line: the router carries the NVR or camera streams over 4G/5G, with VPN or DDNS for remote viewing.
- Utility and IoT integrators — Smart grid, water, environmental and weather monitoring: RS232/RS485 meters and RTUs, IR120 digital inputs and relay, and the IR520's built-in Modbus, DNP3.0, IEC 101/104 and DL/T 645 protocols.
- Kiosk, vending and POS operators — Self-service terminals, vending machines, kiosks and mobile POS points that need their own link with VPN back to head office, independent of the shop's network.
- Fleet, oil & gas and agriculture projects — Vehicles and mobile assets that need position and data (IR530 GPS), wellheads and pipeline stations on DC power, and irrigation or greenhouse controllers reached over the serial port.
Where and how to install
- Inside a cabinet, not in the open — The housing is metal but rated IP30, so outdoors it must go inside a weatherproof enclosure or pole box. Operating range is -35 to +75°C with 95% non-condensing humidity; shade the enclosure in strong sun and avoid condensation.
- Mounting — The IR520 and IR530 are listed for DIN-rail or wall mounting. The IR110 (206×135×28 mm, 790 g) and IR120 (134.8×115.7×45 mm, 520 g) mounting method is not stated in the documents; confirm the bracket with us for your cabinet.
- Power wiring — All models accept DC 5–36 V (standard adapter 12 V/1.5 A), so they can run from a 12 V or 24 V battery or solar controller output. Connectors differ: 3-pin locking DC socket on the IR110 and IR530, 2-pin terminal on the IR120, 3.5 mm terminal on the IR520. Observe polarity even though reverse protection is built in.
- Antennas and signal — Cellular antennas connect on SMA female (2 on the IR110/IR120, 1 listed on the IR520), Wi-Fi on SMA male and GPS on SMA (male on the IR120, female on the IR530). In a metal cabinet, bring the antennas outside on a short low-loss cable and point them toward the tower; antenna lightning protection is an option.
- Serial and I/O wiring — Match the serial mode (RS232 or RS485/RS422) and the data bits, parity, stop bits and baud rate (2400–115200 bit/s) of the field device. On the IR120 I/O terminal, digital inputs read high at 5–30 VDC and low at 0–3 VDC; switch larger loads through the relay (1 A 250 VAC/30 VDC), not the output (<50 mA @ 30 VDC).
ISG IR series planning: which of the 6 models
All six are industrial cellular routers with a serial port, NAT/firewall routing, optional VPN version, DC 5–36 V input and no PoE; they differ in cellular generation, wired ports, Wi-Fi, I/O and GPS. Power at 12 V is arithmetic from the published working current (W = A × 12 V).

- Pick the IR111 or IR112 for a remote CCTV point with an NVR or a small PoE switch on the LAN side; four 10/100M LAN ports are plenty when the cellular uplink (50 Mbps theoretical) is the real limit.
- Pick the IR121 or IR122 when the site also needs a door contact, alarm input or a relay to reset equipment, or when a local gigabit LAN matters.
- Pick the IR520 for small solar or battery telemetry boxes: about 2.0–2.6 W at 12 V (165–220 mA), which is roughly 48–63 Wh per day running 24 hours.
— = not listed / not applicable. Rates are the theoretical maximums in the documents (IR520 also lists LTE Cat-12/Cat-6/Cat-4 figures). Power is arithmetic: <500 mA × 12 V = <6 W; 165–220 mA × 12 V = 1.98–2.64 W; the IR530 current is not published. Daily energy = W × 24 h, before battery and controller losses.
