Overview

The ZJIES1000D-14T4S series is an unmanaged DIN-rail switch with fiber uplinks, combining 6 × 10/100Base-T copper access ports with 4 × fixed 10/100/1000Base-FX Gigabit fiber ports (SC, ST or FC connector optional, single- or dual-fiber optional) in one compact unit. It is plug-and-play with no configuration required, uses store-and-forward switching, and ships in a compact IP40 metal enclosure (45×175×143 mm) for DIN-rail or wall mounting. Powered by AC 220V (100–240V) single input or DC 24V (12–36V) / 48V (36–56V) redundant dual input with reverse-polarity and overload protection, it operates from -40 to +75°C — suited for sites that need to aggregate several near-end copper links onto a long-haul Gigabit fiber uplink.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

DIN-Rail Cabinet Installation, Any Power TypeThree selectable power inputs — AC 220V (100–240V) single input, DC 24V (12–36V) redundant, or DC 48V (36–56V) redundant — and a compact 45×175×143 mm DIN-rail (or wall-mount) body fit directly into a standard electrical cabinet.
Long-Haul Fiber Backhaul for Roadside & Perimeter SitesThe 4 fixed 10/100/1000Base-FX Gigabit fiber ports (SC/ST/FC connector optional) reach up to 2 km over multimode or 20/40/60/120 km over single-mode, long enough to backhaul roadside or perimeter camera clusters to a control room.
Copper Access + Fiber Uplink AggregationThe 6 × 10/100Base-T copper ports collect traffic from local end devices while the 4 fixed Gigabit fiber ports carry it out over a long-distance fiber uplink — suited for sites mixing near-end copper drops with a fiber backbone.
Built-In Media Conversion — No Separate Converter NeededBecause the 4 fiber ports are factory-fixed (not SFP slots), with connector type (SC/ST/FC) and single-/dual-fiber preset at order, each port doubles as a copper-to-fiber media converter — saving a standalone converter at every copper/fiber junction point.
Extreme-Temperature Outdoor CabinetsA wide operating range of -40 to +75°C (-40 to +85°C storage) plus EN61000-4 Level 3 EMC immunity suit unheated roadside cabinets and unconditioned equipment rooms.
Redundant Power for Tunnel & Underground M&E RoomsThe DC 24V (12–36V) or DC 48V (36–56V) models take dual redundant input with reverse-polarity and overload protection, while an AC 220V single-input model is also available — matched to whichever supply is already run in tunnel or underground utility rooms.
Not a good fit if:
  • Unmanaged switch — no VLAN, RSTP/MSTP ring redundancy, or web-based management; choose a managed model for segmented or ring-topology networks.
  • No PoE output on any of the 6 copper ports — cameras, APs, or IP phones needing PoE power require an external injector or a PoE-capable switch.
  • Fiber connector type (SC/ST/FC) and distance class (multimode/single-mode) are fixed at the factory per order — they cannot be swapped in the field the way SFP modules can.

Who uses it, where it goes and how to plan the ports

Written for the ZJIES1000D-14T4S from its own datasheet: unmanaged DIN-rail switch, 14 × 10/100Base-T copper, 4 × 100Base-FX fixed fibre (SC/ST/FC/LC), AC 100–240V or dual DC 12–36V / 36–56V input, max 12 W, IP40.

Who it is for

  • Factories and PLC cabinets with many devices — 14 Fast Ethernet copper ports connect PLCs, HMIs, drives and meters in one control cabinet, and the fibre ports link that cabinet to others across the plant on one DIN-rail unit.
  • Roads, tunnels, pipelines and perimeters — With 4 fibre ports a cabinet can take the fibre from upstream, pass it on downstream and still branch to two more points, building a chain or tree of cabinets along a route.
  • Utilities and substations on DC power — The DCL (12–36 VDC) and DCH (36–56 VDC) versions take dual redundant DC inputs, fibre isolates field links from ground potential differences, and EMS immunity is EN61000-4-2 to -6 Level 3.
  • Integrators wanting plug-and-play — Unmanaged, nothing to set up; one unit replaces a small switch plus up to 4 media converters in the cabinet. Custom port/power options and OEM are offered.

Where and how to install

  • DIN rail or wall — Default mounting is DIN rail, wall mount is optional. The body is 65 × 150 × 120 mm, so allow about 65 mm of rail width plus room in front for fibre bend radius and above and below for airflow.
  • Choose the power version for the cabinet — -AC takes 100–240 VAC on a single input; -DCL takes 12–36 VDC and -DCH 36–56 VDC, both on dual redundant inputs of a 4-pin terminal. Maximum draw is 12 W, about 0.5 A at 24 V. With DC, wire the two inputs from separate supplies or a supply plus a battery.
  • Fixed fibre ports: order them right — The 4 fibre ports are fixed 100Base-FX with SC, ST, FC or LC chosen at order, so they cannot be swapped like SFP modules. Tell us the fibre type (single-mode or multimode), the longest run and the device at the far end before ordering.
  • Chain or tree, never a ring — No ring or spanning-tree protocol is listed, so do not close the fibre chain back to the control room. Every 100 Mbps fibre hop carries the traffic of all switches behind it; plan the camera count on that.
  • Cabinet climate, earthing and surge — IP40 needs a closed cabinet outdoors. Standard models run at -10 to 60°C and wide-temperature models at -40 to 75°C, 5–95% non-condensing; use a cabinet heater or drain where condensation forms. Earth the DIN rail and add surge protection on copper runs that leave the cabinet.

Ports and chain planning

All 18 ports run at 100 Mbps, including the 4 fibre ports. That is plenty for PLCs and meters, but for video the fibre uplink is the limit: at an assumed 6 Mbps per 4 MP camera and 70% link load, about 11 cameras fit behind one uplink, counting every camera on this switch and on all switches chained behind it. 14 local cameras at 6 Mbps would already need 84 Mbps.

  • Pick the ZJIES1000D-14T4S for a cabinet with many 100 Mbps devices and up to 4 fibre directions.
  • Pick the ZJIES1000D-16T2S-DC when 2 fibre directions are enough and you need 16 copper ports.
  • Pick the ZJIES1000D-6T4F (Gigabit fibre) or ZJIES1000D-22T4GB (Gigabit SFP uplinks) when the fibre chain carries many cameras.

Port, switching, power, size and temperature values are from the manufacturer's ZJIES1000D datasheets. Camera counts and currents are arithmetic on the stated assumptions (6 Mbps per camera, 70% link load, 12 W maximum).

14-Port Industrial DIN-Rail Switch FAQ — ZJIES1000D-14T4S

How far can the fiber ports of the ZJIES1000D-14T4S reach?
The 4 fixed 100Base-X ports cover 2 km on multimode fiber; single-mode builds are available for 20, 40, 60 or 120 km. Connectors can be ordered as SC, ST, FC or LC, in single- or dual-fiber and single- or multi-mode configurations to match the existing plant.
Which power supply versions are available?
The base unit takes AC 220V (100–240V AC) on a single input. DC versions run on 24V (12–36V DC) or 48V (36–56V DC) with dual redundant 4-pin terminal inputs. Maximum consumption is 12W, and reverse-polarity plus overload protection is built in.
Does this DIN-rail switch need any configuration?
No. It is unmanaged and plug-and-play: mount it, wire power and links, and it forwards immediately. Internally it uses store-and-forward switching with an 8K MAC address table, a 4 Mbit packet buffer and IEEE 802.3x flow control. LEDs show power, copper link and fiber link.
Can one ZJIES1000D-14T4S replace two smaller switches?
That is the idea: 18 ports in one unit — 14 × 10/100Base-T copper plus 4 × 100Base-X fiber — inside a 65×150×120 mm IP40 metal housing. It mounts on a DIN rail by default (wall-mount optional), so a single device covers what would otherwise need two boxes in the cabinet.
Will it survive roadside and outdoor cabinet temperatures?
The wide-temperature build operates from -40 to +75°C (standard -10 to +60°C), stores from -40 to +85°C and tolerates 5–95% non-condensing humidity. EMS immunity is EN61000-4-2/3/4/5/6/8 level 3, with IEC60068 shock and vibration ratings. MTBF is 320,000 hours; warranty is 5 years.
Are the 4 fibre ports of the ZJIES1000D-14T4S Gigabit?
No. The manufacturer's datasheet lists them as 4 × 100Base-FX fixed fibre ports, so each link runs at 100 Mbps, and the far end must also be a 100 Mbps fibre port or 100M media converter with the same fibre mode and wavelength. A Gigabit SFP port on another switch will normally not link to it unless that port accepts a 100Base-FX module. If you need Gigabit fibre on DIN rail, look at the ZJIES1000D-6T4F or ZJIES1000D-22T4GB.
How many cameras can I chain over fibre with ZJIES1000D-14T4S switches?
Count all cameras behind each fibre hop, not per switch. Every hop is 100 Mbps, so at an assumed 6 Mbps per camera and 70% load the hop nearest the control room carries about 11 cameras in total, for example 3 cabinets with 3–4 cameras each. Lower the camera bitrate, use H.265, or split the chain into two branches on separate fibre ports going back to the control room by different cables to different switches. For larger camera chains use a Gigabit-fibre model.
Can I close the fibre into a ring with the ZJIES1000D-14T4S for redundancy?
No. It is unmanaged and no ring, STP or RSTP protocol is listed, so a closed loop causes a broadcast storm that stops the whole network. Use a chain or tree. If the route needs a self-healing ring, use managed DIN-rail switches such as the ZJIES3000D series at each cabinet and confirm the ring protocol and recovery time on that model's page.
Can the ZJIES1000D-14T4S-DCL run from a 12 V or 24 V solar battery?
A 24 V battery system is the safe choice: the DCL version accepts 12–36 VDC, and a 24 V battery stays inside that range from full to empty. A 12 V battery sits right at the 12 V minimum and drops below it as it discharges, so on a 12 V system use a 12-to-24 V DC-DC converter. At its maximum of 12 W the switch draws about 0.5 A at 24 V, or about 288 Wh per day running 24 hours, which you add to the cameras and radios on the same battery when sizing panels and capacity.
Will the ZJIES1000D-14T4S work with Siemens, Schneider or other PLCs and other brands' switches?
For standard Ethernet traffic, yes: it is a store-and-forward IEEE 802.3/802.3u switch with flow control (802.3x), so Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP or ordinary IP traffic passes through like on any unmanaged switch. Protocol-specific features such as PROFINET diagnostics or IGMP filtering for multicast are not listed; for PROFINET there is a separate ZJIES1000D-PN model. On fibre, the far-end device must be a matching 100Base-FX port.
What power connector does the ZJIES1000D-14T4S have, and do I need to confirm it before ordering?
Yes, please confirm the power connector with us before ordering. For Zhongxin Shutong products the power input type and connector can differ between versions and batches, so tell us your supply (AC or DC and the voltage), how you will wire it in the cabinet and your country's plug standard, and we confirm the exact connector and supply version of the ZJIES1000D-14T4S for your order.
