The ZJIES6028M-HI-16GT8GB4S+ series is an unmanaged DIN-rail switch with fiber uplinks, combining 6 × 10/100Base-T copper access ports with 4 × fixed 10/100/1000Base-FX Gigabit fiber ports (SC, ST or FC connector optional, single- or dual-fiber optional) in one compact unit. It is plug-and-play with no configuration required, uses store-and-forward switching, and ships in a compact IP40 metal enclosure (45×175×143 mm) for DIN-rail or wall mounting. Powered by AC 220V (100–240V) single input or DC 24V (12–36V) / 48V (36–56V) redundant dual input with reverse-polarity and overload protection, it operates from -40 to +75°C — suited for sites that need to aggregate several near-end copper links onto a long-haul Gigabit fiber uplink.
Is This the Right Fit?
Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.
- Unmanaged switch — no VLAN, RSTP/MSTP ring redundancy, or web-based management; choose a managed model for segmented or ring-topology networks.
- No PoE output on any of the 6 copper ports — cameras, APs, or IP phones needing PoE power require an external injector or a PoE-capable switch.
- Fiber connector type (SC/ST/FC) and distance class (multimode/single-mode) are fixed at the factory per order — they cannot be swapped in the field the way SFP modules can.

Dimensions

Who uses it, where it goes and how to plan the network
Written for the ZJIES6028M-HI-16GT8GB4S+ from the manufacturer's datasheet: L3 managed 19-inch 1U rack switch, 16 × 10/100/1000Base-T copper, 8 × 1000Base-X SFP and 4 × 10GBase-X SFP+, OSPF/RIP/VRRP, ZJRing <20ms, IEC61850-3, AC/DC 100–240V input.
Who it is for
- Utilities and substations — IEC61850-3 compliance, EN61000-4 Level 3 immunity and an AC/DC 100–240V input that suits station supplies make it a fit for substation automation LANs. At station level it routes between bay and station VLANs and collects the fibre links from relay houses on its 8 SFP ports.
- City, traffic and large CCTV backbones — The fibre-dense core of the HI line: 8 gigabit SFP ports take the links from field rings or remote switches, and 4 × 10G SFP+ ports carry the combined video to the storage servers, video wall or a second core.
- Mining, oil & gas and multi-site plants — Layer-3 routing (static, RIP v1/v2, OSPF) joins separate process, safety and video subnets across a site, VRRP v2 keeps the gateway alive if one core fails, and the DHCP server/relay hands out addresses per VLAN.
- System integrators and OEM projects — Web, Telnet, CLI and SNMP v1/v2/v3 management, configuration import/export for cloning many units, and project-level customization and OEM supported on this page.
Where and how to install
- Rack position and depth — It is a 19-inch 1U unit (440 × 44 × 310 mm), so check that the cabinet has at least 310 mm of usable depth plus room for cables at the front. The IP40 metal housing is for indoor cabinets and control rooms, not open outdoor mounting; support long, heavy cabinets with a rail or shelf under the switch.
- Power and alarm wiring — The 4-pin power terminal takes AC/DC 100–240V, single or dual. For redundancy feed the two inputs from different sources (for example station DC and a UPS), each with its own breaker; the unit draws max 35 W. Wire the 2-pin alarm relay (220V, max 2A) to the RTU or alarm panel so a lost input is reported.
- Fibre and transceiver handling — There are 8 × 1000Base-X SFP and 4 × 10GBase-X SFP+ slots: use 1G SFP modules in the SFP slots and 10G SFP+ modules in the SFP+ slots. Reach depends on the module you fit, so match mode and wavelength at both ends, keep dust caps on until patching, clean connectors before plugging in and respect the bend radius when dressing fibre in the rack. Copper ports stay within 100 m per run.
- Grounding and surge — Bond the chassis to the cabinet earth bar with a short conductor. EMS immunity is EN61000-4 Level 3, but copper cables that leave the building or cross a switchyard still need surge protectors at both ends; where possible use fibre for those links.
- First setup over the console — Before connecting it to the live network, configure it over the RJ45 console (RS-232, 9600bps, 8/N/1) or the web interface: management IP and VLAN, new login password, SNMP v3 instead of v1/v2, and the ring settings. Export the configuration file and keep it so a replacement unit can be loaded in minutes.
- Temperature and condensation — The standard version is rated -10~60°C and the wide-temperature version -40~75°C; order the wide-temperature version for unconditioned rooms and roadside or yard cabinets. Humidity is 5–95% non-condensing, so seal cable entries and use a cabinet heater or ventilation where nights are cold and humid.
Ports, routing and aggregation planning
This model trades copper for fibre: 16 copper ports instead of 24, but 8 gigabit SFP ports plus 4 × 10G SFP+. Each 1 Gbps fibre link carries about 166 cameras at an assumed 6 Mbps; with 30% headroom plan about 116 per link, so 8 links bring in about 928 cameras or 5.6 Gbps, which still fits in one 10G uplink and leaves the other SFP+ ports for a second core or servers.

- Pick the ZJIES6028M-HI-16GT8GB4S+ for a core or aggregation node where most links arrive on fibre and you need 10G towards servers.
- Pick the ZJIES6028M-HI-24GT4GB4S+ when you need more copper (24 ports) and only 4 gigabit SFP links, with the same 4 × 10G SFP+.
- Pick the ZJIES6028M-HI-24GT4GB-DC if gigabit uplinks are enough and you do not need 10G.
Values are from the manufacturer's ZJIES6028M-HI series datasheet. Camera counts assume 6 Mbps per 4 MP camera with 30% headroom and are arithmetic, not manufacturer figures; fibre reach depends on the modules and the maximum number of switches per ring is not listed.
