Overview

The S4G02GFI-SFP is the fibre-uplink member of the 4-port PoE family: four 10/100/1000M PoE ports for cameras, access points or intercoms, and two 1000M SFP slots instead of copper uplinks. Copper tops out at 100 m per segment, so when the switch sits at a gate house, a pump station or the far end of a yard while the recorder is in the office block, the SFP pair carries the traffic over fibre — single-mode modules cover tens of kilometres. Total PoE budget is 52 W with 30 W available on any single port, the housing is fanless metal, and the unit is unmanaged: power it, plug in, done.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

Small retail shop or convenience store with a handful of cameras4 PoE ports cover a typical 3-4 camera storefront, and the 2 uplink ports connect straight to an NVR or router — no separate PoE injector or extra power run needed.
Home or small residential monitoringA compact desktop unit that sits behind a router without extra noise or heat — enough ports for a front door, driveway, backyard and side gate camera.
Small guesthouse or single-floor B&BCovers hallway and entrance cameras on one switch without running a separate power outlet to each camera location — useful where wiring an extra socket means breaking into finished walls.
Budget-conscious retrofit of an existing 100M camera networkWhere the existing cameras and cabling are already Fast Ethernet, this model matches the network speed at the lowest cost per port instead of paying for gigabit capacity that will not be used.
Detached garage, workshop or small storage roomA rugged metal, fanless build tolerates dust and temperature swings in an unheated outbuilding, while still being small enough to tuck onto a shelf or wall bracket.
Gate booth or entrance camera 200+ meters from the equipment roomExtend mode pushes the PoE and data run to 250m on copper, covering a distant gate or car park entrance that standard 100m Ethernet cannot reach without adding a repeater.
Not a good fit if:
  • Unmanaged Layer 2 only — no VLAN segmentation or STP/RSTP; choose a managed switch if network isolation or spanning tree is required.
  • No ring/loop redundancy protocol — wire in star, tree or bus topology only; do not create physical wiring loops between ports.
  • Commercial-grade -10 to +70°C housing in a compact desktop/wall-mount form factor — not rated for industrial wide-temperature extremes and not rack-mountable without accessories.

Single model, single 52 W PoE budget. It shares housing and PoE behaviour with the copper S4G02GI; the difference is the uplink — two 1000M SFP fibre slots instead of two copper Gigabit ports. Choose this version when the run back to the recorder or router is longer than 100 m.
