Overview

The Atlas S802EI is a compact 10-port unmanaged Fast Ethernet PoE switch built for 8-camera installs. It provides 8 x 10/100M PoE ports (IEEE802.3af/at, up to 30W per port with smart powered-device detection) plus 2 x 10/100M uplink ports in a fanless IP30 metal enclosure. The base S802EI carries a 96W power budget; the S802EI steps up to 120W and adds an independent watchdog auto-reset circuit for extra-reliable operation on heavier PoE loads or unattended sites. An Extend mode stretches PoE and data reach out to 250m on any port by stepping the link rate down to 10Mbps, and store-and-forward switching with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX keeps traffic flowing without configuration. Both variants are rated -10 to +70°C for unheated equipment rooms, corridors and rooftop cabinets.

How many IP cameras can the S802EI power?

All 8 PoE ports can run cameras at the same time. The 96 W base budget averages 12 W per camera and the 120 W version averages 15 W, while typical IP cameras draw 4–12 W — a full 8-camera CCTV setup fits either way. A single port delivers up to 30 W (IEEE 802.3af/at) for PTZ units.

What does the 120 W version add over the 96 W base model?

Two things: 24 W more PoE budget for heavier loads, and an independent watchdog auto-reset circuit that reboots the switch if it ever locks up — worth having on unattended sites or where the switch feeds power-hungry cameras around the clock. Ports, speeds and housing stay identical.

How far can a camera sit from the switch?

100 m on a standard link. Switch a port to Extend mode and PoE plus data reach 250 m, with that link stepping down to 10 Mbps — enough for one camera stream at a distant gate or wall. Power rides the data pairs (Mode A) under IEEE 802.3af/at.

Is it safe to mix cameras with non-PoE devices on this switch?

Yes. Smart powered-device detection checks each port and only supplies power to genuine IEEE 802.3af/at devices, so a router or PC on a PoE port is untouched. The 2 dedicated 10/100 M uplink ports connect the NVR, and reverse-polarity plus overload protection guard the whole unit.
