Overview

The S8G02GI upgrades every access port to Gigabit, so 4K cameras, multi-sensor panoramic cameras and gigabit wireless APs each get a full-speed connection instead of sharing fast-Ethernet headroom. Two Gigabit RJ45 uplinks keep the NVR feed clean even with all 8 ports pushing high-bitrate streams at once. Built-in IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ still delivers up to 30W per port for PTZ and IR-illuminated cameras, and the fanless metal case keeps it quiet in a rack, cabinet, or ceiling void. Choose the 96W S8G02GI for typical loads or the 120W S8G02GI, which adds a watchdog auto-reset, for heavier PTZ/IR loads.

Is This the Right Fit?

Six real deployment scenarios matched to this model's actual datasheet specifications.

Small Hotels & GuesthousesLobby, corridors and parking under 4K cameras, all-gigabit ports keep every stream sharp.
Retail Chain StoresSales floor HD cameras plus a gigabit wireless AP for POS and inventory scanners on the same switch.
Small WarehousesDock-door 4K cameras that need full frame rate for license-plate and pallet-label reads.
Elementary SchoolsFull-gigabit campus network carrying HD classroom cameras alongside the school's own data traffic.
Clinics with Imaging EquipmentGigabit ports handle HD camera feeds alongside networked diagnostic devices without contention.
Farm Processing FacilitiesGigabit cameras on the packing line and loading area feed a local NVR without dropped frames.
Not a good fit if:
  • Not a managed switch -- no VLAN segmentation, spanning-tree, or web management interface. Choose a managed model if the project needs VLANs or loop-prevention protocols.
  • No ring-network redundancy protocol -- built for star, tree, and bus topologies, not self-healing ring recovery.
  • Commercial -10°C to +70°C rated in a desktop/wall-mount metal case without 19-inch rack ears -- not for extreme industrial wide-temperature sites or standard 19-inch rack rows.

8-Port Gigabit PoE Switch FAQ — S8G02GI

How many IP cameras can the S8G02GI power?
All 8 gigabit PoE ports can power cameras at the same time. The 96W version averages 12W per port and the 120W version 15W, while a single port can deliver up to 30W under IEEE 802.3af/at — enough headroom for PTZ or IR-heavy cameras on a full 8-camera CCTV build.
What is the difference between the 96W and 120W versions?
Both versions share the same 8 gigabit PoE ports and 2 gigabit RJ45 uplinks. The standard S8G02GI has a 96W PoE budget; the high-power 120W model adds a watchdog auto-reset that reboots frozen powered devices automatically — the standard model has no watchdog.
How far can it carry PoE and data over copper cable?
Each copper segment supports the standard 100 m limit defined by IEEE 802.3. Powered-device detection is automatic and protects non-PoE equipment plugged into the same ports, and power is injected in Mode A over the data pairs, so no separate power wiring is needed at the camera.
Why choose a gigabit PoE switch for CCTV instead of 100M?
Every access port runs at 1000 Mbps, so 4K cameras, multi-sensor panoramic cameras and gigabit wireless APs each get a full-speed link instead of sharing fast-Ethernet headroom. With 28 Gbps switching capacity, 20.832 Mpps forwarding and two gigabit uplinks, the NVR feed stays clean with all 8 ports streaming.
Which devices can the PoE ports power?
Any standard IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at powered device: mainstream IP cameras, wireless access points and video intercoms. Detection is automatic, so non-PoE gear on the same port is never damaged. Maximum output is 30W per port, drawn from the 96W or 120W total budget.
How is the S8G02GI installed and powered?
It uses a built-in DC 52V 1.85A supply fed from AC mains (176–264V input, 100–240V adapter compatible). The fanless IP30 metal case measures 173 x 124 x 38 mm, mounts on a desktop or wall, runs silently from -10 to +70 degC and is rated 50,000 hours MTBF.
