Overview

The Atlas S402EI is a compact 6-port unmanaged Fast Ethernet PoE switch built for small camera installations. It provides 4 x 10/100M PoE ports (IEEE802.3af/at, up to 30W per port with smart powered-device detection) plus 2 x 10/100M uplink ports, all inside a fanless IP30 metal enclosure drawing up to 52W. An Extend mode stretches the PoE and data link out to 250m on any port by stepping the link rate down to 10Mbps, so installers can run a camera well past the standard 100m Ethernet limit without adding a separate power line at the far end. Store-and-forward switching, auto-negotiation with auto MDI/MDIX, and a built-in watchdog auto-reset keep the unit stable under continuous camera loads, while the -10 to +70°C rated housing covers unheated cabinets, gate booths and rooftop enclosures.

How many cameras can the S402EI power?

Four PoE cameras at once. Total consumption stays under 52 W at full load — 13 W average per port — while typical IP cameras draw 4–12 W, and any single port can deliver up to 30 W under IEEE 802.3af/at. Two extra 10/100 M uplink ports connect the NVR or router.

How far can it reach a camera in Extend mode?

Up to 250 m of PoE power plus data on the S402EI, with that port's link rate stepping down to 10 Mbps — no separate power line needed at the far end. Standard operation covers 100 m. The gigabit configurations of this family stay at the standard 100 m.

What is the difference between the S402EI and the S4G02GI configuration?

The S402EI is Fast Ethernet: 4 × 10/100 M PoE plus 2 × 10/100 M uplinks, 1.6 Gbps capacity, and the 250 m Extend mode. The S4G02GI configuration is full gigabit on all six ports with 14 Gbps capacity at the standard 100 m. Both share the 2K MAC table, 30 W per port and IEEE 802.3af/at.

Will it damage a non-PoE device plugged into a PoE port?

No. Powered-device detection is automatic and smart: the port only injects power after confirming an IEEE 802.3af/at device is present, so laptops, printers or plain switches connect safely. The unit also carries reverse-polarity and overload protection, and power rides the data pairs in Mode A.

How rugged is it, and how is it installed?

A fanless IP30 metal case of 128 × 110 × 32 mm, 0.6 kg, for desktop or wall mounting. The built-in DC 52 V 1 A supply accepts AC 176–264 V (100–240 V compatible), operation spans −10 °C to +70 °C at 5–95 % humidity, and quoted MTBF is 50,000 hours. Resellers get 50 units per carton.
