Overview

The S802GIGFI/GFID takes the familiar 8-port FE PoE layout and adds a Gigabit SFP slot alongside the 2 Gigabit RJ45 uplinks, so the same switch works whether the equipment room is down the hall or across the parking lot. Run copper when it's close, drop in a fiber module when the distance or interference calls for it -- no redesign, no swapping switches mid-project. The 8 PoE ports still deliver up to 30W each under IEEE 802.3af/at, and 250m Extend mode covers the outlier camera on the copper side. Choose the 96W S802GIGFI for typical loads or the 120W S802GIGFI, which adds a watchdog auto-reset, for PTZ or IR-illuminated cameras.

How many IP cameras can the S802GIGFI power?
All 8 PoE ports power devices at the same time under IEEE 802.3af/at. On the 120W version that averages 15W per port; typical fixed IP cameras draw 4–12W, so a full 8-camera CCTV setup fits the budget. A single port can deliver up to 30W for PTZ or IR-heavy cameras.
When should I use the SFP fiber port instead of the RJ45 uplinks?
Use the 1000Base-X SFP slot with a fiber module when the equipment room is beyond copper reach or the path crosses heavy electrical interference. For short runs, the 2 gigabit RJ45 uplinks are simpler. Both options sit on the same switch, so one model covers either site layout.
How far can it power a camera with the 250m extend mode?
In extend mode a PoE port carries power and data over up to 250m of cable, with that port's link speed reduced to 10Mbps. That bandwidth still handles a single camera stream, so use it for the far gate or perimeter camera and keep nearby ports at full speed.
What is the difference between the 96W and 120W versions?
Port layout is identical: 8 PoE, 2 gigabit RJ45, 1 SFP, up to 30W per port. The 96W standard model suits typical loads and has no watchdog. The 120W high-power model adds PoE budget headroom plus a watchdog that auto-resets the switch itself if it locks up.
Is it safe to plug non-PoE devices into the PoE ports?
Yes. Powered-device detection is automatic: the switch checks for a valid IEEE 802.3af/at signature before applying power, so a PC or other non-PoE device only receives data. It works with mainstream IP cameras, wireless APs and video intercoms that follow the same standards.
How is the S802GIGFI installed and powered?
The fanless metal case measures 173×124×38mm, is IP30 rated and mounts on a desktop or wall. Power is a built-in DC 52V supply fed from AC 176–264V, compatible with 100–240V adapters, and the switch operates from -10°C to +70°C with no cooling fan.
